nearly a month;

and we’re getting grumpy.  Tight living space in the car, short tempers, and overtired bodies are not the greatest combination.

I guess we knew what we were getting into, though, and I can’t say I’m too bothered by it.  The positives far outweigh our moodiness, and Washington state is something out of a dream.

After Oregon, and its green, eco-friendly charm, we drove north to explore even more of the Pacific Northwest.

We visited Seattle and an island called Whidbey.  Accessible only by ferry, he and I visited old family friends in their new home on the island.  Fog hung over the pine trees, deer frolicked on their property, wildflowers bloomed on every road, and the quiet… It was so quiet, we could actually hear the deer munch on grass.  I didn’t know life could ever be so soundless.  After a night of catching up and eating a delicious, homemade meal, we stood on their front balcony in the brisk, chilly July weather and watched the moon rise.

It was the most relaxed I remember being in a long, long time.

Needless to say, I slept very well that night…

It’s always hard leaving, but Montana sounds like a perfect next stop.
